Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm filed a lawsuit on Wednesday against his parents, Daniel and Lisa Bohm, in a Philadelphia court. The suit alleges the parents transferred his money into four accounts they managed, then used the funds for their own expenses.[1][2]
According to the lawsuit, Bohm began reviewing his personal and financial affairs in recent months and found that his parents had frozen his access to the accounts. The accounts, opened starting in 2019, were intended for purposes including securities investments and real estate purchases. The suit claims the parents assigned themselves a 10% administrative stake while telling Bohm he remained the true owner.[1]
Bohm alleges his parents converted a sizable amount from the accounts to their own use, including expenses paid from The Alec Bohm Foundation. He seeks at least $3 million in damages, control of the accounts and an independent accountant to trace all transfers from his personal accounts.[1]
Daniel and Lisa Bohm, through their attorney Robert Eckard, denied the allegations. Eckard stated they are "deeply saddened" by the claims and will defend themselves aggressively. He said Bohm had full access to the accounts and that his parents have covered his expenses using their personal credit cards.[2]
"Mr. and Mrs. Bohm love their son very much and have always acted in his best interests, both personally and professionally, and still do so to this day," Eckard said.[2]
Bohm, 29, declined to comment on the matter after the Phillies' 2026 season-opening game on Thursday, saying, "I’m not going to address any personal matters right now."[1] The lawsuit notes his parents currently live in a recreational vehicle and travel the country.[1]
Alec Bohm, born August 3, 1996, plays third base for the Phillies. He is under a three-year, $25.5 million contract extension signed in October 2023 that runs through the 2026 season, with a salary of $10.2 million that year.[3][4]
